Get ready for goosebumps and happy tears because this beautiful boho Northumberland County wedding has all the romantic vibes.  It is no surprise that the incredibly talented Aimee Nabert of Church House Studios created a magical setting from her handmade decor to the carefully selected vintage and bohemian pieces sourced to complete her vision. Did we mention she designed her wedding dress from scratch with her mom? Cue the tears! Surrounded by their close family and friends,  Aimee + Wolfgang had a perfect wedding day.

We asked Aimee a few questions about the big day - we are so excited to share her answers on planning and her favourite moments!

In all honesty we had our entire wedding planned and date picked before the proposal. We went away for vacation and just fell in love with the idea of getting married there and planned it all that week.

Our wedding was a perfect representation of us. It was relaxed, intimate and completely original. It was a mix of modern and boho vibes to create a beautiful festival feel. We spent the whole year gathering every detail to make it the perfect day.

What inspired your wedding decor/theme/colours?
I tried really hard to make our wedding unlike anyone else’s I had seen. We used moody jewel tones, lots of textured textiles and dark florals to create the bohemian festival vibe I pictured.

What did you find most surprising about planning a wedding?
I’ve done this for quite a few people before so not a lot of things surprised me, but I was shocked at how difficult it was to find a caterer that could provide 100% gluten free dining.

Tell us about your dress! From finding the perfect fit to wearing it on the big day!
I never wanted to wedding dress shop. It was never anything I had the urge to do. I had an image in my mind of the exact dress I wanted, it wasn’t like anything I had seen, and I knew I would never find it in a store so I asked my mom to work with me to create it from scratch! We altered and tweaked the design dozens of times until it was exactly what I wanted! She exceeded all my expectations.

Tell us about the moment you saw each other for the first time on your wedding day:
Walking down the aisle I was an emotional mess, I lost my father a few years ago so that thought right before walking made me cry but when I finally turned the corner and saw him he was smiling so large that I stared laughing and just felt totally comfortable.

What was your first dance song?
Definitely not a typical choice- inspite of ourselves by John Prine

What was your absolute favourite part of your day?
Speeches and our band for sure!

Describe newlywed life in three words:
Just the same!

What is your best piece of advice for couples currently planning their wedding?
Choose what’s the most important to you and then budget everything else from there, and 100% get a videographer.
