How did you get started?
When I graduated high school I started working as an on-air DJ for CHUC-AM. I would DJ for my friends and do a few events with my personal stereo equipment (which was pretty fancy at the time) but I never tackled DJ'ing professional until 2014. I wanted to get back to my music roots. I did a lot of research, bought professional DJ equipment, and joined the CPDJA, where I learned about insurance, music licenses, and what they expect from their DJ's (code of conduct, etc). I didn't do any weddings my first year as I wanted to get back into the groove but now I'm doing mainly weddings and corporate events and it's very rewarding and wonderful to work with these couples who are getting married. As a wedding DJ we do so much more than just play music. To be even better at what I do I recently completed "The Professional Process" - a 16 hour intensive training event by Peter Merry. I can't wait to put many of his tips to work this summer!
Who/What inspires you?
I have a few DJ "mentors" that inspire me, but I also push myself to be the best I can be. I'm a Sagitarius and I'm always on the search for knowledge. I'm a self-learner. I put my mind to something and I research and go for it. When a wedding is all over and the next morning I'm replaying the day in my head and looking at the pictures, that inspires me even more.
